Just use this and tie it to a tree. No longer do i need to worry about hanging a bear bag. Sure, i do wish it was maybe half again as big, but it works great.

At 8.8 ounces, our major xl bear bag is still more lightweight than a traditional bear canister and prevents bears from getting your food in their territory. I just used an ursack minor for the first time on a trip to havasupai (south side of grand canyon). While you can leave a ursack on the ground at night, i like to tie mine to a tree so a bear doesn’t carry it off.

Ursack major (15l) can only just hold just enough food for me for a full resupply (~1 week). I mostly use mine with dehydrated food, of which it can hold a lot, especially if you pack your own meals, or repack store bought meals. It can be hung at a more accessible height on a branch, cached on the ground or in rocks.

Please note that no bear resistant container is perfect, so don't use the ursack where loss of food would put you at risk. This is the ursack minor, which is designed for critters.
